Migrate Your Hosting

Rocket is moving published apps to a new hosting setup so sites load faster worldwide. Follow one path below, based on the link your app uses today.

What to expect

What	Detail
Your app itself	Does not change.
Your current link	Stops working in about 7 days.
After you click Launch	Rocket shows a new link for the same app.

The old link still works until it is turned off. Launch soon, then replace the old link anywhere you shared it.

Steps

Open your project in Rocket

Open the app that is live on the old builtwithrocket.new link.

Click Launch

Click Launch and publish as you normally do. Need a refresher? See Launch your site.

Wait until publishing finishes

This usually takes under 2 minutes.

Copy the new link

Rocket shows the new link when publishing is done. Use that link from now on.

If you shared the old link (bookmarks, posts, emails, or embeds), update those to the new link after you Launch.

Why does my link change?

Without your own domain name, Rocket creates a free public link for you. The new hosting setup uses a different link, so Launch creates a fresh one. Your app content stays the same.

Do I need to change domain settings?

No. Domain settings (DNS) only apply if you connected your own domain. Stay on this tab and click Launch.

Choose this if people visit your app at a domain you own, such as example.com or app.example.com.

Option 1: Let Rocket update domain settings (easiest)

Open your project and click Launch

Open the app in Rocket and click Launch.

Click Configure Domain

Follow the prompts. When Rocket can connect to your domain company, it updates the settings for you.

Option 2: Update domain settings yourself

Use this if Rocket cannot update settings automatically, or if that flow did not finish.

Open your domain's DNS settings

Log in to the company where you bought or manage the domain (for example, GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Cloudflare). Find DNS, DNS Management, or DNS Settings.

Remove old records if you see them

For the same Host you are updating, delete any existing A or CNAME records that conflict with the new ones.If you see either of these old IP values, remove those A records:

Also delete an old check record named netlify-challenge if it appears.

Add the new records

Enter the exact Type, Host, and Value that Rocket shows you. If you need a reference, open the matching tab below.

Use this when the site is example.com (no name in front).

For Host, some companies use @, leave it blank, or type the domain name. Use whatever your DNS screen expects for the main domain.

Use this when the site is something like app.example.com. Host is usually the first part (app).

Replace app with your own subdomain name.

Save and wait

Save your changes. Most updates finish in 5 to 30 minutes. Sometimes it takes up to 48 hours.To check, open dnschecker.org, search for your domain, and confirm the values match what you entered.

I am not sure where to change DNS

Change it at the company that sold or renews your domain. That is often different from where you host email or an old website.

A record for this name already exists

Remove or replace the old one first. You should not keep two different A or CNAME records for the same Host.

Nothing has changed yet

Wait a little longer, then check again on dnschecker.org. Updates are not always instant.
