Rocket checks names when you save them and again before an invitation email is sent. The same rules apply on web and mobile. Clear error messages appear in the product when a value breaks a rule, for example that names cannot contain web addresses. These rules keep invitation emails readable and trustworthy. They apply everywhere a name is saved: web, mobile, and the API.

Workspace, project, and task names

Not allowed

  • Web addresses, including short links and addresses without https:// or www
  • Known link-shortening services such as bit.ly, shorturl.at, tinyurl, and similar
  • Currency symbols ($, €, ₹, and others)
  • The characters @, /, and #
  • Numbers with 6 or more digits, even when broken up with spaces or dashes
  • Database commands

Allowed

Letters in any language, shorter numbers, spaces, and these characters: & + - ( ) ! ? . , : _ ' Generated task titles already avoid special characters. Rules still apply if you rename a task.

Auto-created workspace names

When Rocket creates a default workspace from your signup email, dots become spaces and extra digits are removed. For example, rahul123456 becomes Rahul12345. Existing auto-named workspaces are updated the same way.

Existing names

Names that already break the rules stay visible. You see an error only when you edit that field or try to send an invitation that includes it.

Before an invitation is sent

Rocket checks workspace, project, and task names again right before sending an invitation. If a name breaks the rules, the invitation is not sent. The product tells you which name to rename. Workspace, project, and task names in the invitation email are cut to 20 characters, followed by ….

Free plan invitation limit

Free accounts can invite at most 10 people in total, across all workspaces.
  • Cancelled, deleted, and expired invitations still count toward the 10
  • Re-inviting someone who already counted does not use another slot
  • The Free plan limit is enforced by Rocket and cannot be skipped
Paid plans allow unlimited team members. See Pricing and Workspace collaboration.
